The idea of The Traveller’s Friend came about while first-hand experiencing the devastating effects of Covid during 2020 & 2021. We as the owners of The Traveller’s Friend are operating various accommodation establishments since 2010 and our business, Summer Garden Guest House in Benoni near OR Tambo International Airport (www.summergarden.co.za), was very negatively affected during this time.

We needed to change our dependency on online travel agencies, to save money (because the exuberant commissions charged were just getting to much) and to attract local visitors at the same time (international travel stop very abruptly during Covid).

We felt the need to empower communities by showcasing not just accommodation in their area, but also all other related tourism and hospitality businesses. Therefore, we decided to create 13 main categories with a total of more than 100 sub-categories in our Travel Directory, showcasing everything a traveller might need when visiting a specific area.

As adamant travellers ourselves we found that it is easy to find information about all the mainstream accommodation in a specific area, but very difficult to find things to do and see in the area. We aim to bring all of this together in one powerful travel directory, making it easy for travellers to get information about a specific area of travel.

We do not want to be another online travel/booking agent, we want to be an easily accessible, one stop directory to give travellers peace of mind while searching our directory for valuable information and providing a tool to easily interact with businesses listed on our travel directory.

Registering as a user or business owner is very easy and above all – Free. Anyone can register and use our travel directory, travellers, and business owners alike. Business owners can choose from our free plan to list a business or any of the paid pricing plans available with different features to suit your business needs.
